How 2RE Club handles your data, tool by tool. Last updated 9 October 2026.

The short version:

  • There are no accounts, no sign-up, and no analytics or tracking scripts of my own.
  • Most tools run entirely in your browser — what you type or paste never leaves the page.
  • Four tools need the server, and each one says so on its own page: Open Graph Viewer, Tech Stack Detective, Web Page Editor and OCR.
  • The OCR tool is the only one that stores your file. It is kept out of public reach, and you can ask for it to be deleted.
  • There is no ad network and no tracking. The only advertising is a few sponsored referral links on the home page and at the foot of every tool page — the details are below.

What each tool does with your input

Tool Runs where What happens to your data
Word Counter Your browser Nothing leaves the page. The counts are calculated locally.
URL Encoder / Decoder Your browser Nothing leaves the page.
Colour tools Your browser Nothing leaves the page, and the shade data is stored inside the page itself.
Spell Check Pad Your browser Nothing leaves the page. The underlines come from your own browser's spellchecker.
Markdown Previewer Your browser Nothing leaves the page.
URL Demuxifier Your browser Nothing leaves the page. The link you paste is read as text and is never fetched.
Open Graph Viewer This server The URL you enter is fetched so its meta tags can be read. The page content is not stored.
Tech Stack Detective This server The same fetch, plus response headers and cookie names. Cookie values are never shown or saved.
Web Page Editor This server A cleaned copy of the page is fetched for you to edit. Your edits stay in your browser and are never uploaded.
OCR This server Your image is uploaded and stored. See the next section.

The /secret area is a password-protected file dashboard used to review OCR uploads. It is not linked from anywhere on the site, it is marked noindex, and it sets a session cookie when you log in.

OCR uploads, specifically

OCR is the one place where a file you give this site leaves your device. The image is uploaded, saved in the server's uploads folder, and the extracted text is written next to it as <filename>.ocr.txt.

  • The folder is never served to the public and cannot be reached from the web — it is only visible through the password-protected /secret dashboard.
  • There is no automatic deletion yet: files stay until I clear them out. Ask and I will delete yours, OCR text included.
  • Uploads are capped at 15 MB and only image types are accepted.
  • Do not upload passports, ID documents, contracts or anything else you need to keep private.

Cookies

Exactly one kind of cookie can be set while you are here:

  • The /secret session cookie. Only set if you deliberately log in to the uploads dashboard. It is signed, expires after a few hours, and is never sent over plain HTTP when the site is served over HTTPS.

This site sets no analytics, tracking or advertising cookies of its own — no ad network runs here — which is why I am not asking you to accept anything before you read a page. The sponsored referral links are the only exception, and only after you choose to click one (see below).

Sponsored links

This site runs no ad network — there is no Google AdSense, no third-party ad script and nothing that tracks you as you browse. The only advertising is a handful of sponsored referral links on the home page and at the foot of every tool page, each labelled Sponsored and marked rel="sponsored nofollow".

  • They come from one small script served by this site itself (/tools/js/deals.js), so even displaying an offer contacts nobody but this server — no image, pixel or script is loaded from Wise, Robinhood or Remitly to put an offer on the page.
  • The links point at services I use myself (Wise, Robinhood and Remitly). Sign up through one and you get the offer shown while I earn a referral bonus.
  • Nothing is loaded from those companies while you read the page. Any cookie is set by them, on their own site, only after you choose to click through — and then their privacy policy applies, not this one.
  • A referral link tells me only that somebody signed up. It never tells me who you are, and I receive no personal data about you from it.

Everything here works with an ad blocker switched on, and those links are the only thing on the site an ad blocker might ever hide. Blocking them does not break a single tool.

Server logs

Like any web server, the machine hosting this site records incoming requests — including IP addresses, timestamps and the URL requested — as part of normal operation and for security. Those logs are not used to profile visitors, and they are not combined with anything else.

Your choices

  • Ignore or block the sponsored referral links — they are the only ads here, and nothing on the site depends on them.
  • Ask for an OCR upload (and its extracted text) to be deleted — include the filename or say which page you used.
  • Ask what is stored, or ask for anything of yours to be taken down.

Send a message and it gets dealt with.

Changes to this page

If the tools or the advertising change in a way that affects any of the above, this page is updated and the date at the top changes with it.
